Here's the best part, when asked about it later, Peck unapologetically told the Lawrence Journal-World, “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person." Well, at least he's honest.
Peck went on to say that his constituents are not happy about the illegal immigration occurring in this country and the federal government's lack of response to it. Then he said he didn’t expect any further controversy over his comment. “I think it’s over."
Well, think again. LULAC just officially asked for his resignation.
Udpate: After being slapped by the Governor, Peck has issued a two-sentence apology:
"My statements yesterday were regrettable. Please accept my apology," he said in a statement. Suddenly, he's a man of few words.
