The old rustic Bridge by theMill.

THE OLD RUSTIC BRIDGE BY THE MILL. I recall my Dad singing this song. Dad passed away in 1930 aged 40; due to a recurrence of a WW1 war wound in France on the western front. My dear departed Rosemary loved it too. div I am thinking tonight of the old rustic bridge That bends o'er the murmuring stream 'Twas there, Maggie dear, with our hearts full of cheer We strayed 'neath the moon's gentle beam 'Twas there I first met you, the light of your eyes Awoke in my heart a sweet thrill Though now far away, still my thoughts fondly stray To the old rustic bridge by the Mill. Chorus: Beneath it the stream gently ripples Around it the birds love to trill Though now far away, my thoughts fondly stray To the old rustic bridge by the Mill. I keep in my mem'ry the love of the past With me 'tis as bright as of old For deep in my heart it was planted to last In absence it never grows cold I think of you darling when lonely at night And when all is peaceful and still M...

A new era for the 'The Daily Gaggle'.

Yes,it has happened. My senior Son Christoper has convinced me - mind you under severe pressure that is - that I should have a Facebook Account. This is apparently due to enormity of replies from my own plus his frequently published Face book pages. However, how I shall cope means that I shall have to employ him as a defacto (Dorothy Proops) to reply to the Multitude of mail expected. "What" - do not Know of Good old Dorothy? She must be on google somewhere. Despite being isolated, yesterday proved that togetherness can be achieved through other means like telecommunications and the like ( and you you dont to shower and dress plus travel to be with those who are dear to you, I quite often enjoy a one sided chat with my dear departed Rosemary - a secluded place of my home- followed by tears of remembrance. I would like very much to say THANK YOU, for the Numerous gifts - cards and calls to all of those concerned and to scores of Face book callers from all parts of the...

Grandpa's 95 th Birthday

Thank you; to those who have replied, there is still time to let me know if you can make it here , the Virus and the travel regulations hampering any activities. We are more or less in mid winter here in NSW Aus; the weather wet and cold, wrap up warm if you stay outside, dont forget to mask (except for the free nibbles and drinkies, plenty of that... after 1300 or 1PM, Friday 16th. BTW It was Friday 16-July 1926 ( "Friday's Child has far to go" Say's the legend. Got it right there. LOVE to see you. G P Les.

Half of a century has passed.

It was about 1 AM on the 5Th of July 1971. When the ship "Brittanis" Sailed from Southampton; on board was my wife and five sons, aged between 3 to 16 - Which coincided with My dear departed wife Rosemary's 37th Birthday. Eventually arriving in Sydney on the $th day of August. Rosemary went to Heaven (I am certain) four years ago, today she would be 87 years of age, and I still cannot get it out of my head that she has gone, "Love you Rose for ever and ever"..
It was nearly one month ago when I fell asleep at this desk and as a result suffered multiple bruising and together with a hand injury which peeled back about 25% of the skin on my right hand Well I am pleased to say it has healed well but has left a nasty scar across my hand, although I am causious about it's use I shall become accustomed to it over time... time er yes time. of course that may be several more falls I hope, plus a a summer or two. On behalf of my dear departed Rosemary , I would like to think That She would love the name of the new granddaughter "Rosie" Love You Rosie xxx. Congratulations Steve.
It would seem that the good old EMAIL is joining the ranks of the chalk slate and blackboard and soon to follow will be the news pqaper with the extinction of the writing pen and pencil to to be buried with their grand parents the Nibs and Inkwells, reminding oldies of their schooldays, well some of us. I shall do my best to grasp the new systems on offer which will enter into cyber space fron JULY One. But in the meanwhile I have to get my Son Chris to Question the Daily Telegraph why they are still charging me for an extinct account. I have been awake most of the night and after four weetbix and that hot cuppa I must stay close to the conveniences - It takes four paces to reach the desired sitting down thingy but the element of speed being missing from my travel a dummy run becomes the preferred option. Nah!! I said Dummy not Dunny. I shall be busy today with the cleaner and shower lady around noon, I may try to get some NOD time in before hand. Back soon.
Blogger Vest said... Thank you, Tim, EC, And Chris. My next life cycle hurdle will be to have enough steam or motive to get to the age of Ninety Five which will perhaps occur on the 16Th day of July; within three weeks and three days. My present Physical form leaves much to be desired, mostly brought about by a lack of sleep and other miscellaneous aches and pains, for example, I slept (sort of) from 9 30 pm last night until 12 midnight and had brekky at 4-30 am. Oh by the way I would be pleased if I had more relatives to thank for hands-on assistance; Christopher has taken on this task admirably and will be the sole winner on my demise this L W & T legacy will be confirmed by the already appointed ambulance chaser ie Legal Eagle. And for all of my relatives and friends, I wish you all the best in life deserving of your efforts and have the never-ending joys of your families. Time for another cuppa. A Visit to My Wife's Grave On Mother's Day

Image
I visited my wife Rose on Mother's Day (yesterday) with my son Chris, his ex, Ruth, and fresh chrysanthemums and roses.

Finally Able to Visit My Wife's Grave Again

Image
I visited my wife Rose with my son Chris and fresh roses yesterday. I haven't visited for many months because I couldn't walk the distance across the cemetery. However, Chris got me a small mobility scooter that folds up and fits in the back of our station wagon last week. So no longer an issue. I could even follow him around while he did the shopping yesterday.

I have been at home for several days

After clashing with wrong diagnosis -hospital food sleepless nights bed sores and hospital bed cramps and more I decided to discharge myself after 13 days. This was after discovering the main cause was liver disfunction not kidney or prostate. I am now receiving far better care in my own home, local doc and specialist visits, showering, community nurse, vet affairs, plus other 'do good orgs' and sleeping in my Q size bed with minnie my puss on occasions to keep me company she is sitting at feet as I write. I am sort of mobile but get puffed out too soon; although Chris my son took me out in our car for a change and had "fish and chips'at the local greasy spoon in Budgewoi and shopped at Aldi- I had to stay in the car. most of my time is spent being horizontal; watching TV becomes uncomforable so an expensive all positions chair thingy is being considered and the sooner the better. I do miss writing to you all and love you all, I shall try to get back soon. Vest DAILY ...

In Hospital

Image
I got admitted into Wyong Hospital on the 22 September when water started dripping out of one of my legs. It was quite profuse, and even a compression bandage didn't help. Still awaiting a specialist to pinpoint the underlying cause, although I think it's related to my liver failure issue - amongst a zillion other things.

XCIV Today

Yes I still have the Key of the door but never been Ninety Four before. My absenteeism from blogging is all due to multiple health problems which creates a lazy attitude. Had problems sleeping last night; tummy rumbles, took one of the Docs pills, now I have to wait an hour before food and the results can be alarming, needless to say there will be no imbibing celebrating activity today- a visit to the Doc and pharmacy and the weekly shopping accompanied by my son Chris, Hoping the day goes well. It is now time for my Breafast. Love you all.

An older post but intriguing

This is a true account of my connection with David Bingham. We first met aboard ship where I had a brief Acquaintance with him while being his instructor. David was a clever dick; knew everything - .

A message from an Ex daughter in law

Sue is one of the four ex daughters in law who also attended the funeral of my late wife,  Sue, has a caring nature, despite the opinion of a son of mine, Good morning Les reply to RYOK. Good thanks for asking, hope you have been too.  I have been working through the COVID 19 outbreak as an essential services worker in the Courts. There are many precautions in place around the workplace and trains. Previously Greg drove into work and dropped me off when the pandemic seemed rife. Then he was able to work from home. Sadly, he has been made forcibly redundant after being a loyal employee for 31 years after the company was sold off and some staff moved to the new online one. His skills and experience not required along with a few others including his immediate manager and one of Greg's staff. The other staff member retains a position with the new company mainly as he's cheaper. Amazingly that fellow has the most time off sick leave including was interested in fin...

Thought for the Day

Lying around, pondering the problems of the world, I realized that, at my age, I don’t really give a rat’s ass anymore. If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, and drinks water, but is still fat. A rabbit runs, and hops, and only lives 15 years, while a tortoise doesn’t run, and does mostly nothing, yet it lives for 150 years. And they tell us to exercise? I don’t think so. Now that I’m older, here’s what I’ve discovered: I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it. My wild oats are mostly enjoyed with prunes and all-bran. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded. If all is not lost, then where the heck is it? It was a whole lot easier to get older, than it was to get wiser. Some days, you’re the top dog, some days you’re the hydrant. I wish the buck really did stop here; I sure could use a few of them. Kids in the back seat cause accidents. Accidents in the bac...
